Hi Stampers!
I hope you are having a great weekend. It is Super Bowl Sunday here, and since my hubby is a life long Kansas City Chiefs fan, and his team is in the Super Bowl for the second year, well there is a lot of nervous energy here in our house! So, I decided to sneak to my craft room and knock out some cards I was needing to get made and sent. Sadly, I have needed several sympathy cards as of late. I struggle with those in general, but especially when I need a masculine one. I pulled out the Rooted in Nature stamp set and used the large Oak tree, which is always an easy go to stamp set for masculine cards.
I started with a Crumb Cake card base, which is always a nice neutral and great for masculine cards. I layered a piece of the now retired Plaid Tidings DSP in the crumb cake plaid to a Basic Black cardstock mat and adhered it to the card front.
I stamped the leafy portion of the tree using a Mossy Meadow ink pad, then used my Early Espresso Stampin' Write marker to put ink directly on the trunk of the tree. I stamped this on a panel of Basic White cardstock that I had cut out with the 3rd largest Stitched Rectangle dies. I colored around the base of the tree trunk lightly with a Light Mint Macaron Stampin' Blend to provide a little shading. I matted this on a Basic Black mat.
I wrapped some of the ribbon from the retired Magnolia Lane ribbon pack around the bottom and tied a knot on the left. I ahdered this panel to the card front at an angle to allow more of the DSP to show.
I stamped the Sympathy sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp in Memento Black ink and punched it out with the new Occasions Oval punch and punched the scalloped oval in Basic Black cardstock. I layered them together and adhered over the ribbon on the right lower side. I also added some clear Elegant Faceted gems on the card front, and called the card front done!
For the card inside, I stamped the heartfelt sentiment from the Woven Heirloom stamp set in Memento ink. I also cut the remaining 3/4" piece of DSP in half and adhered the two strips side by side to the left of the sentiment. I layered this on a Basic Black mat and adhered it to the card inside.
The adhered the DSP to the envelope flap and the card was ready to send!
Hope you like my card, and will give it a try! If you want to recreate it, the card cuts are:
